STUDENT’S APPLICATION for IELTS/SAT TUTORING or ACADEMIC TUTORING
As you know from the top of my website’s homepage, I teach two different types of international academic English.
ONE: I do IELTS/SAT/TOEFL test preparation for critical reading/essay writing.
TWO: I do ACADEMIC TUTORING for students who need to improve both their English reading and writing skills but are not yet preparing for IELTS/SAT/TOEFL tests.
I want to say “yes” to you to become my student only if I can really help you! So, could you fill out this application without any help from your parents, a tutor or any online programs like Grammerly or spell check? I need to know exactly what your skill level is and even if you make a few mistakes, that helps me know how I can help. Whether we work together or do not work together, no one besides Teacher James and you/your parents will see this sheet.
Get to Know You Notes:
In 100 words or less, tell me something about yourself which might include your favorite school subjects, some hobbies, your travels, things that your like or don’t like about your present or past school experience.
Your Strengths & Your Weaknesses in English:
In two separate paragraphs, tell me what your strengths & weaknesses are in English specifically in your ability (1) to read English well or poorly and your ability (2) to write English well or poorly.
Again, the first paragraph is an honest assessment — your strengths AND weaknesses –in reading international level English and understanding it. The second paragraph is an honest assessment – your strengths and weaknesses – in writing international level English. Each paragraph should be no more than six sentences with NO HELP from online grammar programs like Grammerly, your parents, a tutor or a family member.
